Arthur Jayme Studio
Michael Arthur Jayme,
a fifth generation Sonoran desert dweller, was born in Southern Arizona
in 1958. Painting since the age of twelve, this self-taught artist
enjoyed his first one-man exhibition in 1982. His work is prized by
collectors and is included in such corporate collections as Coldwell
Banker, National Band of Tucson, First American Federal Bank, and
others.
Jayme’s work is painted predominantly with palette knives and
demonstrates great technical skill. In January 2004 he was guest artist
at the Southwest Invitational Miniature Show at the Nicholas Wilson
Gallery in Tubac. His work was exhibited with five other respected
artists at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix during the
America West Invitational, “A Room with a View.” In 2002, Michael was
guest artist at Rogoway Gallery in Tubac. From 1984 to 1999, Jayme’s art
was included annually in the prestigious Mountain Oyster Club
Invitational in Tucson.
His
style reflects the essence, variety and strength of his native
Southwest. His distinctive vision, passion for natural beauty and sense
of color work together, to instill an indestructible rhythm and sense of
strength in his work. Of his art, Michael says, “My work speaks for my
experience of the moment and my creativity is unacquainted with limits.
The earth and sky give me what I need. I paint the mountains as I known
it. Energy takes over and enables me to bend and curve that stubborn
line.”
Featured
guest artist: Bonnie P. Jaus – Bonnie P. Jaus is a
citizen of the world. After ending an almost 40 year career as a federal
government employee, with the last 15 years in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait,
she found herself inspired by the beauty of southern Arizona and was
encouraged by her dear friend Michael Arthur Jayme and her husband Fred,
to pursue the adventures of creating jewelry. Exposure to the aesthetic
of the Middle East has definitely impacted her choice of colors and
stones in the pieces of jewelry she is creating.
