Our
Labyrinths
The
Amado Territory Ranch
has added two labyrinths on the property. One is by the duck pond and Strawbale
House and the other is by the Oasis.
According to Linda Wallace, labyrinths are found in
many cultures worldwide and have been known to the human race for
over 4,000 years. It has been used by many religions, cultures,
peoples in different ways for many purposes. The experience of
walking the labyrinth is different for each person and different
each time you walk it. There is no "wrong" or "right" experience; it
may invoke memories, help to clear your mind enough to find an
answer to a problem you have worried about, bring you peace and
tranquility, or lead you to some profound insight you have never had
a chance to think about before. It is an amazing experience and an
amazing tool that helps to slow us down, open our minds, rid
ourselves of negative feelings, promotes creativity and helps to
connect mind, body and spirit.
The labyrinth by the duck pond is entered from the left and has a female
energy. It is shady and surrounded by trees and foliage and has dirt
paths.. The labyrinth by the Oasis is entered by the right and has a male
energy and is more rugged, open and has gravel paths. Both of the
labyrinths are three circuit labyrinths--the oldest style of labyrinths--
aimed at balancing the chakras or energy fields of the body. They are made
from stones from the area.

The labyrinths were
designed and built by Linda Wallace (photo to left), a local yoga
instructor and owner of the Raven Studio in Tucson, Arizona. Linda says" I started building labyrinths about 6 years
ago. The first one that I built was in the shape of a yin yang symbol. I
thought that it was appropriate since the symbol means balance. I teach
at my Raven Yoga Studio and labyrinth walk because yoga and walking are
very balancing. I have since then built 7 other labyrinths and 3 mazes.
Each labyrinth has its own personalized healing energy. I'm also a
artist and photographer and like to create so the labyrinths have filled
that need. To walk a labyrinth is like a journey through life you have
twist and turns, but if you keep on the path you will remove all obstacles
and reach your goal and succeed."
